Where once life was shaped by simple tools and techniques, a Carolingian monastic town is rising – entirely without modern machinery. Later, marvel at the scale and splendour of a castle that served for centuries as a symbol of power and prestige.
Day Programme at a Glance
10:00 am – Arrival and Guided Tour at Campus Galli
Experience how buildings were constructed, iron was forged, fabrics were woven, and food was prepared in the early Middle Ages – all without machines. A fascinating tour brings the vision of the Carolingian monastery town to life.
12:00 noon – Snack at the Marketplace
Enjoy a rustic Dennetle (a medieval-style flatbread) with a drink of your choice (beer, apple spritzer or water). Afterwards, take time to explore the site on your own.
1:30 pm – Departure for Sigmaringen (by own vehicles)
2:15 pm – Guided Tour of Hohenzollern Castle in Sigmaringen
With roots dating back to the 12th century, the castle was a former noble residence and a prestige project of the House of Hohenzollern. It impresses with its architecture, richly decorated rooms and historically significant collections – a fascinating contrast to the world of Campus Galli.
3:30 pm – Coffee and Cake to Close the Day
Conclude your day with a cup of coffee or tea and a slice of cake – depending on the day and group size, served at either the Brauwerk or the Bootshaus in Sigmaringen.
